Art Anderson offers Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering Services beyond vessel refitting, repairs, and improvements. We have a high degree of expertise in research vessels, ferries, barges, non-powered floating structures/systems, and many other watercrafts. We were founded in 1957 to support projects at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and from there we have grown to provide services to clients that include the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Washington State Ferries, the nation’s largest ferry system, and many more. MARINE RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT

Art Anderson retains a research and development group that is on the cutting edge of emerging technologies and approaches to solving marine challenges. For over two decades and spanning more than a dozen contracts, we have investigated technologies and approaches in the areas of high-speed craft, riverine assault vessels, marine vessel constructability, and modular floating platforms.

SHIP & MARINE SYSTEMS DESIGN

As leaders in the design of workboats, ferries, military craft, and barges, Art Anderson understands that long-term mission effectiveness is key. FLOATING STRUCTURES ENGINEERING

Our firm has experience designing a wide variety of custom floating structures that are tailored to the needs of our clients. Art Anderson is recognized for our design of floating surface collectors and floating screen structures. We've engineered nine new fish collection systems and supported construction on seven projects throughout the Pacific Northwest. RESEARCH VESSEL REFIT & REPAIR

With over four decades of experience, Art Anderson has supported the repair, refit, modification, and new construction of vessels for Federal, State, and Local agencies. We have a long history of providing engineering services for research vessels, particularly for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). CRANE BARGE ANALYSIS

Safely determining crane operating parameters on a floating structure can be challenging in marine construction. The Art Anderson team analyzes the structure’s stability and its response to a specific crane’s lifting capabilities to ensure safe operation for both equipment and crew. Hydrostatic and stability analyses for crane and excavator barges are performed using General Hydrostatics (GHS), an industry-standard vessel stability program.

WATERFRONT PORT DESIGN & ENGINEERING

Art Anderson has successfully developed design and permitting strategies for waterfront parks, shoreline protection systems, and other shorefront facilities. BREAKWATER INFRASTRUCTURE

The engineers at Art Anderson have experience designing ferry terminals, marinas, and breakwaters for clients such as Port of Bremerton, Kitsap Transit, Bremerton Yacht Club and more. We have designed structures that span from relatively small, simple facilities like fuel floats through complex and challenging systems like the ship-to-shore causeway system we designed for the U.S. Navy. Our engineers make use of technology and software for hydrodynamic modeling to ensure safety and reliability for all floating systems.
