REPLACE STRUCTURAL EXPANSION JOINTS PIER 3
Pier 3 at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard (PSNS) is a key location for naval operations. The pier is built in sections and has a utility tunnel; between each section are expansion joints. Over time, the concrete expansion joints deteriorated and needed to be repaired.
Art Anderson designed the new concrete and the expansion joints. We paid particular attention to the products that would be placed on the pier. We know that the marine environment – salt water, rain, wind, etc. – has an impact on the longevity of the construction. We chose products would endure the harsh marine elements.
