Interns – A Yearly Tradition in Growing Engineering Careers

For decades, Art Anderson has welcomed a new class of bright, driven students who join our team for a few short months and leave here with real-world experience, professional growth, and a clearer sense of their career path. We believe internships are more than just a seasonal tradition with the arrival of summer; they are an investment in the future of engineering.

Our interns make valuable contributions towards Art Anderson’s success from day one. Whether assisting with marine stability analyses or supporting architecture and engineering site visits, they participate in real projects and gain hands-on exposure to the full project lifecycle. We intentionally balance independence with mentorship, offering interns the freedom to explore solutions while providing technical guidance that fosters both engineering skill and leadership growth. For many, this experience becomes the launching pad to a full-time career.

This year we welcome three interns to the Art Anderson team – Chelsea, Mason and Ben.

Recent Interns Have Shared Their Experience:
  • Clark, 2019 – “Projects that Art Anderson works on are not traditional and repetitive… they brought new challenges that required me to apply my knowledge in unique ways.”
  • Sai, 2021 – “I gained meaningful experience with GHS, Rhino, AutoCAD, and writing real technical specs. It wasn’t just busy work.”
  • Henry, 2022 – “I developed critical engineering skills and got to interact directly with clients. Seeing how a consulting firm really works was invaluable.”
  • Chelsea, 2025 – “Not only did I learn a lot of technical skills at Art Anderson, but I also contributed directly to ongoing projects. I was quickly onboarded onto multiple projects and worked alongside other engineers who were all great mentors and teachers.”
From Interns to Industry Leaders:

Art Anderson offers internship opportunities to grow future leaders in our field. Several of our current staff started as interns at Art Anderson and have gone on to build lifelong careers here:

  • Sean Hoynes, PE – 45 years with Art Anderson, now Chief Engineer
  • Marty McKay, PE – 24 years, now VP of Marine Engineering
  • Jeff Walker – 20 years, now Principal Marine Designer
  • Madison Asaro, EIT – 4 years in and currently working toward her PE license

Each year, we are proud to take part in the development of the next generation of engineers, and this summer is no exception. We are eager to see how Chelsea, Mason, and Ben grow through hands-on experience, mentorship, and real project work. By supporting emerging talent, we are not just building up individuals, we are supporting the future of the engineering industry.
