With nearly five decades of electrical engineering experience and more than 30 years of shipyard and maritime engineering expertise, Larry has built a distinguished career centered on solving complex electrical challenges for vessels, waterfront facilities, and infrastructure projects. A graduate of the University of Texas with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Larry brings deep technical knowledge and a practical, solutions-oriented approach to every project.
20 Years of Excellence
Over the past 20 years, Larry has contributed his expertise to a diverse portfolio of maritime, vessel modernization, waterfront, and infrastructure projects, including:
- Electrical engineering support for DARPA’s NOMARS autonomous vessel program, helping develop conceptual electrical systems, power distribution, battery systems, and control infrastructure for next-generation unmanned vessels.
- Design, review, and modernization of electrical systems aboard numerous NOAA research vessels, including switchboard replacements, generator installations, electrical load analyses, HVAC upgrades, ballast water management systems, and vessel renovations.
- Electrical support for hybrid and alternative-energy vessel projects, including ferry electrification studies, shore power evaluations, and hybrid charging infrastructure assessments.
- Vessel surveys, ship checks, and regulatory compliance assessments for ferries, research vessels, barges, and government-owned marine assets.
- Electrical design and engineering support for Washington State Ferries, including vessel security upgrades, crew endurance lighting improvements, and terminal infrastructure projects.
- Modernization and renovation projects for vessels serving the Alaska Marine Highway System, including electrical systems supporting crew quarters, galley facilities, and vessel upgrades.
- Commissioning and testing support for major naval and waterfront infrastructure projects, ensuring systems operated safely, reliably, and in accordance with project requirements.
- Electrical engineering for fish passage, dam, and floating infrastructure facilities, including complex coordination between mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
- Consultation on marine electrical safety, electrical distribution systems, switchgear, transformers, propulsion support equipment, and vessel maintenance planning.
- Support for waterfront facilities, marina electrical inspections, naval installations, and utility infrastructure improvements throughout the Pacific Northwest and beyond.
